A site visit by the support team was conducted.
Our university has been selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's FY2023 "Program for Forming Japan's Peak Research Universities" (J-PEAKS). We are working to realize an integrated industrial ecosystem for semiconductors, metamaterials, and biofields, centered on visualization technology using synchrotron radiation.
On November 26, 2025, the J-PEAKS Support Team (including our university's assigned supporters and liaisons from J-PEAKS-selected universities), along with representatives from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), visited our university's Higashihiroshima Campus. They conducted a site visit aimed at exchanging opinions on the progress of J-PEAKS initiatives and inspecting the base facilities.
This second session welcomed a total of 36 participants, including representatives from the 7 institutions selected in FY2023 and the 12 institutions selected in FY2024. Active discussions took place between the university administration and participants, focusing on progress and future plans regarding initiatives addressing challenges raised by the support team, as well as the status of collaboration with Kobe University, a partner institution.Following this, participants toured the Research Institute For Semiconductor Engineering, one of the key centers within our university's J-PEAKS initiative. An introduction to various projects undertaken through the J-PEAKS program was provided, and attendees listened with keen interest.
Hiroshima University will utilize the challenges identified during this site visit in its future initiatives. While further promoting collaboration among the selected universities, it will strive to form the research university cluster envisioned by J-PEAKS.
