【Event Report】"DR Young Researchers Interdisciplinary Exchange Meeting 2026" Held

On February 6, 2026, the Hiroshima University Headquarters for Co-creative Future Sciences held the "Young Researchers (DR: Distinguished Researchers) Interdisciplinary Exchange Meeting 2026" at MIRAI CREA on the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus. Hiroshima University has established a system to recognize particularly outstanding young faculty members as DRs (Distinguished Researchers) and provide focused research support.

For the first time, we held an Interdisciplinary Exchange Meeting for Young Researchers in fiscal year 2024 (Reiwa 6), primarily for those certified as DRs. The meeting aimed to foster interaction among young researchers across specialized fields and institutional boundaries. Approximately 30 researchers from diverse fields participated on the day.

First, Vice President and Director Seiichi Miyazaki (Research) delivered the opening remarks. He introduced the DR system, which supports young faculty members aiming to create new social value, along with university-wide initiatives for young researchers through J-PEAKS ( Program for Forming Japan's Peak Research Universities ) and external funding application support provided by the URA. He then expressed his expectations for the continued success of young researchers.

In Part 1, DR-certified researchers introduced their work in a flash talk format. They shared collaborative research being conducted with teams both domestically and internationally, industry-academia partnerships for societal implementation, and future research prospects. This conveyed the breadth and potential of cutting-edge research active across various fields.

During the networking session in Part 2, DR-certified individuals and participants freely exchanged ideas over tea. In a relaxed atmosphere, lively discussions about research flourished, deepening cross-disciplinary connections.
