【Event Report】Hiroshima University J-PEAKS International Symposium 2026 Held

Hiroshima University held the "J-PEAKS International Symposium 2026" on March 2 at the Higashi-Hiroshima Arts and Culture Hall "Kurara," under the theme "New Frontiers Opened by Interdisciplinary Research: Starting from Synchrotron Radiation Science."
Over 100 participants, including researchers, students, and members of the general public, attended the symposium and discussed new possibilities for research through interdisciplinary collaboration.

On the day of the event, following remarks by a guest speaker from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, our university presented a progress report on the J-PEAKS initiative. Furthermore, a guest lecturer from Arizona State University (ASU), our overseas partner institution, delivered a presentation on the world's most cutting-edge research trends.

Additionally, research presentations were given from fields such as synchrotron radiation, semiconductors, chiral knot metamaterials, drug discovery and cell regeneration medicine, and genome editing —areas of focus at our university. Active presentations and discussions unfolded regarding the potential for interdisciplinary research originating from synchrotron radiation science.

At the networking session following the symposium, researchers, students, and other participants interacted with each other through poster presentations by each research center.

This symposium was held in conjunction with " The 30th Hiroshima International Symposium on Synchrotron Radiation," which took place on March 3 and 4. That symposium also saw participation from numerous experts both domestically and internationally and was held to great success.

Hiroshima University will continue to accelerate innovation through the J-PEAKS initiative by strengthening international research networks and promoting interdisciplinary research.
