Hiroshima University will host the Hiroshima University J-PEAKS International Symposium 2026: New Frontiers through Interdisciplinary Research Integration
— Focusing on Synchrotron Radiation Science —
on Monday, March 2, 2026, as part of the Program for Forming Japan’s Peak Research Universities (J-PEAKS).

This symposium is jointly organized in connection with
The 30th Hiroshima International Symposium on Synchrotron Radiation (March 3–4, 2026),
and aims to foster new interdisciplinary research initiatives originating from synchrotron radiation science, while strengthening international research collaboration.

  • Participation Fee: Free (Advance registration required)

To facilitate access from the Kasumi Campus on the day of the event, shuttle buses (Tsubame Kotsu) will operate according to the schedule below.

  • 【Outbound】Kasumi Campus (Meet at Hiroshima Kasumi Post Office, 11:15) Depart 11:30 → Kurara (Arrival approx. 12:20)
  • 【Return Trip】Kurara departs 20:00 → Kasumi Campus arrives around 20:50 → Hiroshima Station Shinkansen Exit arrives around 21:10

If you wish to board, please check the route you plan to take on the application form.

On the day of the event, in addition to an overview and progress report on the J-PEAKS initiative, we plan to feature an invited lecture from Arizona State University (ASU), our overseas partner institution, along with research presentations by researchers and young scientists from J-PEAKS priority research centers (semiconductors, chiral knot metamaterials, regenerative/cell therapy/drug discovery, genome editing center, synchrotron radiation, etc.).

Information Exchange Session and Poster Display

Following the symposium, we will host an exchange session aimed at fostering discussions and international networking.

  • Date and Time: Monday, March 2, 2026, 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM (tentative)
  • Venue: Higashi-Hiroshima Arts and Culture Hall Kurara (Small Hall)
  • Participation Fee: General Admission 4,000 yen, Students 2,000 yen

The information exchange session will feature poster presentations detailing the J-PEAKS overview and research activities at each core facility. This initiative aims to stimulate dynamic discussions among researchers and students, thereby fostering new international collaborations and pioneering interdisciplinary research.

  • Symposium Registration: Monday, February 23, 2026
    *Online registration closes on February 23.
    Those wishing to participate after this date must register on-site at the symposium venue.
  • Registration for Networking Reception: Thursday, February 12, 2026
