【Call for Applications】Phoenix Postdoctoral Researcher (Advanced Program)

Hiroshima University is now accepting applications for the Phoenix Postdoctoral Researcher (Advanced Program), a J-PEAKS-related initiative.
This program aims to attract outstanding early-career researchers from Japan and abroad, and to accelerate collaborative research and global network building at Hiroshima University.
This open call is a program designed to promote research exchange and international collaboration by supporting young researchers from Japan and abroad to conduct joint research with faculty members at our university.
Selected fellows will be employed as contract staff (postdoctoral level) and will pursue research in collaboration with a host researcher at Hiroshima University.
This is contingent upon conducting joint research with faculty members of this university.

Overview (Recruitment Summary)
- Number of positions (planned hires): 4
- Employment period: From as early as possible on/after April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027
Renewal is possible annually depending on performance and budget; up to March 31, 2029 - Salary / Benefits: JPY 6,060,000 per year (based on university regulations)
- Research budget: JPY 1,000,000 per year (pro-rated if starting mid-year)
- Social insurance coverage applicable
Eligibility (Application Requirements and Key Criteria)
Applicants must satisfy all of the following:
- Hold a PhD, or expect to obtain it by March 31, 2026
- Not currently employed in a full-time position at the time of selection (including fixed-term full-time roles)
- Not already appointed to an equivalent fellowship program such as JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships Research in Japan, etc.
Concurrent application may be allowed, but double funding is not permitted.

Selection & Notification
- Document screening (1st stage)
- Online interview (2nd stage): Research/Plan/Career Presentation in English or Japanese (Oral presentation in English or Japanese)
